Description

Société Générale is one of the largest commercial banking groups operating in Africa with major subsidiaries in WAEMU (Sénégal, Côte dIvoire, Burkina Faso, Bénin, Guinée), CEMAC, Madagascar, and Morocco (Société Générale Maroc). SG ranks as the second-largest WAEMU bank by market share at 9.8%. In March 2026, IFC partnered with Société Générale Sénégal on a EUR 50 million facility to expand MSME access to finance. SG offers SME, corporate, trade finance, and structured products across all African markets where it operates.
