Volta Lake Fisheries Cooperative

Volta Lake Fisheries Cooperative represents smallholder fish farmers and fishing communities on Lake Volta - the largest artificial lake by surface area in the world, created by the Akosombo Dam. The lake supports tens of thousands of Ghanaian fisherfolk and fish farmers producing tilapia, catfish, and other freshwater fish for the domestic Ghanaian market, and is a major source of rural livelihoods in the Volta and Eastern Regions.
